MEC in R22m tender charge!
~
According to the EFF, MEC Phophi Ramathuba was allegedly involved in a tender irregularity that entailed payouts totaling R22 million a month.
Provincial party chairman Mike Mathebe said: “We have clear evidence that shows traces of corruption in this dodgy tender. The charges relate to a laundry tender of millions of rands awarded to Mphefedzi Business Enterprise, through which it would manage 32 hospitals’ laundry services.
“The company has no equipment and, if any, none is functioning.”
Polokwane police spokesman Captain Ntobeng Phala said a case of fraud was opened against the MEC on Tuesday.
Spokesman for the Limpopo Health Department, Billy Teffo, said they were aware of the matter: “It has been referred to the provincial treasury department and we are awaiting their findings.”
He confirmed that the matter related to alleged laundry tender irregularities.
