Police foil kidnap attempt, kill 4 in Abia

The Police in Abia State have foiled an attempt to kidnap a businessman and killed four gunmen at Uratta community in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government of the state.
It was learnt that a gang of kidnappers were to meet at the Uratta Primary School, Isiala Ngwa North local council, where they were alleged to be plotting to kidnap a farm produce merchant in the area. Acting on a tip-off, Police stormed the area but the gang opened fire on sighting the Police who responded and killed four of the gang members.
The victims include Chijioke Monday who is a relation of their proposed victim; Chimezie Olileanya, a Political Science student of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri; and Gabriel Nwakudu whose INEC Voters card was found on him.
Items recovered from the gang include; one double barrel shot gun with a live cartridge in the chamber, one locally-made single shotgun with an empty shell, an axe, seven empty cartridges and various charms, while 20 expended ammunition were found on the scene.
