Ohanaeze chieftain tasks Buhari on pro-Biafra protestsAs the pro-Biafra protests spread across towns in the South-East and South-South, the Federal Government has been advised to step in and resolve the crisis before it gets out of hand.
A chieftain of apex Igbo body, Ohanaeze and Eze Ndigbo of Ikeja, Lagos, Eze Uche Dimgba, who made the appeal while speaking with journalists, said though he is not in support of secession, there are fears that the agitation may be hijacked by those out to cause disunity among Nigerians.
Dimgba also advised the Federal Government to address issues that trigger agitations for self-determination by the various sections of the country.
He said: “I don’t support the agitation for Biafra but my advice is that those issues that trigger such demand should be addressed by the government. The promises made to the people of the South-East after the war are yet to be fulfilled but that doesn’t mean that it should lead to secession.
“The Federal Government should act fast because this was how Boko Haram started and some people described them as miscreants but before we know what was happening, terrorists hijacked them and the situation got of hand.

“So, my appeal is that President Muhammadu Buhari, should act fast by unravelling what the grievances of the agitators are to avoid dangerous groups hijacking the agitation and throwing us into another round of crisis.”
He also appealed to the leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) to open up a dialogue channel with the government to resolve the issues at stake.
